Rock Formations inside "Garden of the Gods" - Shawnee National Forest
"Garden of the Gods," within Shawnee National Forest is listed as a wilderness area of the USA. These unique geological formations in Southern Illinois are the result of uplifted sandstone that formed 300 million years ago. It is rather difficult to get to, but well worth a visit to stand out on peaks such as "Buzzards Point" and look out over Shawnee National Forest.
Several exposures are used to increase dynamic range to bring to viewers that sculpted dimensional feel that one can truly only experience by being present at the site.
